Coaching a high school cross country team is a huge commitment - you spend 5-6 days a week with the athletes for 2+ months. Saturdays are filled with long bus rides and sometimes upwards of 6 different races (varsity, JV, freshman) to watch and give splits for. There’s always one day of the year that gets me psyched up for the upcoming season and playing in the woods tonight was it! Can’t wait to start my 4th year coaching these kids. While I want them to run fast and push their limits, I’m just as excited to help foster a lifelong love and healthy relationship with running. I’ve been curious about rock climbing for years, but a fear of heights kept me from it for so long. After seeing @freesolofilm last year and reading Alone on the Wall by @alexhonnold I really felt the desire to try to work on this fear and made it my goal to try climbing by the end of 2019. With the first 7 months of the year dedicated solely to training for @vermont100mile , I waited to try something new to avoid the chance of injury before my goal race. Last night I finally gave bouldering a try during my down month from running. It was so, so much fun even though I was so scared. I can see how addicting this sport can be - I kept trying this one route with an overhang over and over again until my arms shook. I need to go back and get it!
